Cbank buys 26 bln rbl of foreign currency from market on Monday
MOSCOW, Nov 23 (PRIME) -- Russia’s central bank bought 26.1 billion rubles of foreign currency from the market with settlement on Monday, according to the regulator’s documents seen by PRIME on Tuesday.
The Finance Ministry resumed foreign currency purchases under the budget rule on January 15, after suspension in March 2020.
The amount of planned currency purchases in the period from November 9 through December 6 stands at 518.2 billion rubles, or 25.9 billion rubles a day.
Now the Finance Ministry is allowed to buy not only foreign currency but also gold for the National Wealth Fund under the budget rule. Russia aims at a gold share of 20% in the fund.
